The Rhinoceros Viper (commonly called the Rhino Viper, or just “Rhino”) is another extraordinarily beautiful African viper of the genus Bitis, and is very common in captivity. Like its cousin, the Gaboon Viper, the venom of the Rhino Viper is extremely potent, making venomoids of this species quite popular. Rhino Vipers are named for their large nasal horns. This species does well in captivity provided that it is kept well-hydrated, and not overfed. Regular soakings are highly recommended for these vipers.
